Frequently asked questions

What was the Karzahni plant?
The Karzahni plant was a sentient creation of Makuta Teridax, built as a prototype for the Morbuzakh and named after the legendary tyrant Karzahni. It was intended to confine the Matoran of Metru Nui to the city's interior by blocking access to the coast.
Why did Teridax abandon the Karzahni plant?
The plant proved substantially more intelligent than Teridax had anticipated and refused to serve as a tool. Rather than destroy it outright, Teridax abandoned it in the tunnels beneath Metru Nui and built a replacement with less independent capacity, which became the Morbuzakh.
What bargain did the Karzahni plant strike with the Toa Metru?
The plant offered to heal Nokama of the Rahi Nui's venom if the Toa Metru would retrieve a vial of energized protodermis from one of the Makuta's lairs. The Toa accepted, and the plant fully healed Nokama on their return.
How did the Karzahni plant die?
Energized protodermis transformed only beings destined to be transformed and killed all others, and the Karzahni plant was not destined to be remade, so the vial destroyed it. A fragment used as flotation for the Lhikan II later regenerated in the Silver Sea and returned to Metru Nui, where Teridax destroyed it for the final time after it revealed the truth about the Toa Metru's selection to Vakama.
What secret did the Karzahni plant reveal to Vakama?
The plant told Vakama that Mata Nui had altered the stars to deceive Teridax, so the Makuta wrongly believed Nuhrii, Ahkmou, and the other original Great Disk holders were the destined Toa, when the true succession ran to Vakama and the other five Toa Metru. It also gave Vakama the first hint that the Order of Mata Nui existed.
