Frequently asked questions

What is Voyage of Fear about?
It covers the Toa Metru's first crossing of the Silver Sea after the Great Cataclysm, carrying six sealed Matoran Spheres aboard a salvaged Vahki Transport they had christened the Lhikan. The crossing took them through the Great Barrier and into the territory of the exiled Archivist Mavrah and his prehistoric sea Rahi.
Who is Mavrah?
Mavrah was an Onu-Matoran Archivist of Metru Nui and Whenua's best friend, paired with him on the failed Underwater Rahi Study. When Turaga Dume ordered the dangerous prehistoric sea Rahi destroyed, Mavrah refused, escaped the city with them, and took up a self-imposed exile in the tunnel system with the Rahi and the Kralhi for years.
Why did Mavrah attack the Toa Metru?
Mavrah was unaware of the Cataclysm and had convinced himself that Turaga Dume was still hunting him. He refused to believe Whenua's account of what had happened to the city, reading it as the cover story of a recapture team, and ordered his sea Rahi and surviving Vahki to destroy the intruders.
What happened to Mavrah during the voyage?
During the feeding frenzy, Mavrah tried to call off the Rahi after Onewa confronted him about the slaughter, but he was struck by displaced water and swept overboard, presumed lost in the wave. He was in fact teleported, like all those killed in the Matoran Universe, to the Red Star, where he was later encountered by Pohatu and Kopaka.
What happened to Ahkmou's Matoran Sphere?
Five of the six Matoran Spheres reached the island of Mata Nui sealed and intact, but the sixth, carrying the Po-Matoran Ahkmou, was lost during the engagement with Mavrah's Rahi. It was later recovered separately and opened with the rest on the slopes of Mata Nui.
