Frequently asked questions

Who were the Po-Matoran?
The Po-Matoran were the Stone-element Matoran, the carvers and quarry workers of the Matoran Universe and the most athletically inclined of the principal Matoran types. They worked the canyons and deserts of Po-Metru and Po-Wahi and produced most of the finished tools and statues used elsewhere in Matoran civilisation.
Why could Po-Matoran not swim?
Po-Matoran could not swim, an incapacity attributed to their build and to the absence of any natural affinity for water. The limitation kept the type confined to inland and coastal-but-dry regions.
Where did the Po-Matoran live?
In Metru Nui the Po-Matoran lived in Po-Metru, the carving district built around the Sculpture Fields. After the Great Cataclysm and the evacuation to Mata Nui they resettled in Po-Wahi and built the village of Po-Koro in a defensible canyon.
How did the Po-Matoran get along with other Matoran types?
The Po-Matoran did not generally get along well with the other Matoran types despite functional dependencies. They considered Ko-Matoran too focused on the future, Onu-Matoran too focused on the past, and Ga-Matoran perpetually trying to teach things to Matoran who had not asked, while Ta-Matoran and Po-Matoran often did not get along despite their districts' mutual dependence.
Who are some notable Po-Matoran?
Notable Po-Matoran include Onewa, who became Toa Metru of Stone and later Turaga of Po-Koro; Hewkii, the Kolhii champion who became a Toa Inika and then Toa Mahri of Stone; and Hafu, Po-Koro's most prominent carver. Others include Ahkmou, Pouks of the Toa Hagah, and Velika, an inventor of Voya Nui later revealed to be more than he appeared.
