Kirrahe
Salarian STG Captain of Virmire
Captain Kirrahe was a salarian Special Tasks Group officer whose covert regiment uncovered Saren Arterius' breeding facility on Virmire, a brave and inspiring commander remembered for the speech he gave his men before a near-suicidal assault.
Captain Kirrahe was an officer in the salarian military and a member of the 3rd Infiltration Regiment of the Special Tasks Group, the covert unit sent to investigate Virmire. There his team discovered the base of operations of the rogue Spectre Saren Arterius. Brave, intelligent, and strategically gifted, Kirrahe was able to inspire his men and willing to spend lives when a mission demanded it, qualities that defined his role in the strike on Saren's facility.
Virmire#
After his regiment discovered Saren's krogan breeding facility on Virmire, Kirrahe sent a request to the Citadel Council for a fleet to help destroy it, but a communications disruption garbled the message and only the Normandy SR-1 arrived. He devised a plan to plant an improvised nuclear device at a critical point in the base, committing himself and three teams of his officers, joined by either Ashley Williams or Kaidan Alenko, to draw out the geth in a diversion he knew would cost heavy losses. Naming his teams after key salarian settlements to remind his men what they fought for, he steadied their resolve with a rousing address, telling them that though they were covert operatives rather than heavy troopers, they belonged to a proud tradition whose records would remain forever sealed.
Whether Kirrahe survived depended on the help Commander Shepard's team gave his assault. Without it he was killed by geth air support midway through the operation, leaving Williams or Alenko to take command of the salarians. With Shepard's support, he and his surviving men escaped aboard the Normandy, where he expressed sympathy for the Commander's losses and hope that the two might work together again.
The Reaper War#
If Kirrahe survived Virmire, he reappeared during the Reaper invasion as a major stationed at the STG facility on Sur'Kesh, where he had brought the female krogan recovered from Tuchanka. He promised Shepard his support against the Reapers regardless of what the politicians decided. When Cerberus attacked the base, he expressed his pleasure at fighting alongside the Commander again, covering Shepard's team during the firefight and staying behind to protect their flank.
Fate on the Citadel#
During the later Cerberus attack on the Citadel, Kai Leng threatened the salarian councilor's life. If Kirrahe was alive and Thane Krios was not present to intervene, Kirrahe stepped in cloaked and was shot at point-blank range. He pursued the assassin a considerable distance before collapsing, entrusting the chase to Shepard and affirming, with his last words, the honor of having fought beside the Commander.
