Aurra Sing, also known as "Nashtah," was a Force-sensitive female Palliduvan who left the Jedi Order to take up the life of a bounty hunter and assassin. Operating before and during the Clone Wars, she built a reputation as one of the galaxy's deadliest snipers, took work for the Hutts and for Cad Bane, and trained the young Boba Fett. Her long and storied career ended with her death at the hands of Tobias Beckett.

Early career#

Born in 51 BBY to a mother too poor to raise her, Aurra Sing was abandoned on Nar Shaddaa. Though once associated with the Jedi Order, she left it for the life of a bounty hunter. Early in her career she and fellow hunters Cad Bane and Vorhdeilo encountered the Sith Lord Maul on Nar Shaddaa and joined a hunt staged by the Xrexus Cartel, picking up a transmission that Jedi were inbound. After crashing on the moon of Drazkel, the hunters turned the tables on their pursuers; Sing sniped a group of Trandoshan hunters from a distance while her companions struck at close range, and the group stole an Ohnaka Gang starship to escape.

Ten years before the Clone Wars, Sing was on Tatooine during the Boonta Eve Classic podrace, watching from a balcony in Beggar's Canyon. While vacationing aboard the luxury vessel Halcyon alongside the Clawdite bounty hunter Zam Wesell, she was hired by a man named Colram Vestig for protection against the Hutts he owed. When the Hutts seized Vestig's son, Sing pursued them to Numidian Prime to retrieve the boy, undeterred even by an approaching solar storm.

The Clone Wars#

Sing's skill as a sniper earned her fame, and during the Clone Wars she joined the young Boba Fett, son of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, in a plot to kill the Jedi Master Mace Windu, who had slain Jango on Geonosis. Boba infiltrated the Star Destroyer Endurance as a clone cadet under the name "Lucky." When his first attempt on Windu failed, Sing advised him to destroy the ship's reactors, sending the vessel plummeting toward Vanqor. Boba escaped in a pod that was recovered by Sing and the Trandoshan Bossk; she insisted the other cadets be jettisoned as living witnesses, and when Boba refused to kill the clone trooper Ponds, she shot him herself and ejected his body. The captured cadets were ultimately saved by Anakin Skywalker and Windu.

The group of hunters then traveled to Florrum to seek the counsel of Sing's old acquaintance, the pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka. Later in the war, after escaping Republic captivity, Sing joined Cad Bane's team for a raid on the Republic Senate Building, taking hostages in a bid to free Ziro the Hutt from imprisonment. From a rooftop she covered Bane's entry with her sniper rifle, cutting down Senate Commandos and even shooting a dying trooper, and aided in subduing Skywalker before the hunters escaped with Ziro freed.

Later career and death#

As the Clone Wars continued, Sing came to command forces for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Republic warned its citizens not to engage her directly but to report any sighting to the Jedi High Council, and the Jedi agreed to capture her personally. Her long career ultimately ended when she was killed by Tobias Beckett; her death pleased his employer, who paid Beckett a bonus for the act.

Skills and equipment#

Aurra Sing was an expert markswoman, equally deadly with a blaster pistol or a sniper rifle, and a cyborg whose implant allowed her to track multiple threats at once and line up shots at great distance. Force-sensitive and trained in the ways of the Jedi before abandoning them, she kept the lightsabers of the Jedi she hunted as trophies of her kills.
