Ki-Adi-Mundi
the Cerean Jedi Master
Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Cerean Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council who fought through the Clone Wars as a general. He was shot down by his own clone troopers on Mygeeto when Order 66 was issued.
Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Force-sensitive Cerean male Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council in the final years of the Galactic Republic. Distinguished by the tall, elongated skull characteristic of his species, he fought as a Jedi General through the Clone Wars and commanded clone forces in several major campaigns. He died during Order 66, shot down by his own troopers while leading them on Mygeeto.
The Cerean Master#
Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Cerean from the planet Cerea who rose to the rank of Jedi Master and earned a seat on the Jedi High Council. By the closing years of the Republic he was one of the Order's senior figures, valued for his judgment and counted among the body's most experienced members. He was a cautious and deliberate Jedi, and late in the Clone Wars he was among the first on the Council to suspect that the Sith were capable of exploiting Yoda's bond with the fallen Count Dooku.
The Clone Wars#
When Obi-Wan Kenobi was captured on Geonosis and the Separatist threat became open war, Mundi joined the strike force of more than two hundred Jedi that Mace Windu led into the Petranaki Arena. He survived the slaughter that claimed so many of his colleagues and fought in the ground battle that followed, leading clone troopers in the assault that helped force the Confederacy into retreat alongside Aayla Secura, Kit Fisto, and others. With the conflict underway he took the rank of Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic.
Mundi later returned to Geonosis with Kenobi and Luminara Unduli to destroy Poggle the Lesser's rebuilt droid foundry. He also tracked down a Senate spy who was feeding war intelligence to the Separatists, following the traitor to a rendezvous with Asajj Ventress, who killed the informant before Mundi could intervene. Across the war he commanded clone armies in the Outer Rim and took part in the Council's deliberations, including the debate over how to treat Jedi who had transgressed, where he took a hard line, regarding the fallen Barriss Offee as a terrorist and supporting harsh measures against Quinlan Vos.
As the war dragged toward its end, Mundi shared the Council's growing distrust of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who had refused to surrender the emergency powers he had accumulated.
Death on Mygeeto#
In 19 BBY, Mundi was leading clone troopers in the campaign on the crystalline world of Mygeeto when Palpatine, having revealed himself as the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, issued Order 66. The clones marching at Mundi's side turned their weapons on him without warning, and he was cut down by their fire on the Mygeeto front.
Legacy#
Mundi's lightsaber survived him. Years later, around 1 BBY, the weapon was recovered and acquired by the collector Dok-Ondar, who kept the blade of the long-dead Jedi Master among the artifacts in his den on Batuu, a reminder of a Jedi who had died during the Clone Wars.
