- The Federation of Fear was a covert Order of Mata Nui operation to extract Makuta Miserix from his volcanic prison on Artidax in the months before the Destiny War. It was carried out by a strike team of imprisoned villains under the field command of Brutaka.
- Why did the Order of Mata Nui rescue Miserix?
- Helryx, the Order's leader, judged that open war with the Brotherhood of Makuta required a figurehead with standing inside the Brotherhood itself. Miserix, the former leader Teridax had overthrown and ordered executed, was the only available candidate, and freeing him let the Order present its war as a succession dispute inside the Makuta faction rather than an outside coup.
- Who was on the Federation of Fear strike team?
- The team consisted of imprisoned villains chosen because no one would care whether they lived or died: Roodaka, Carapar, Takadox, Spiriah, and Vezon. Brutaka commanded the team, and the Dark Hunter Lariska was brought in on temporary loan as its chaperone.
- What happened to the strike team members during the mission?
- Carapar was shattered into fragments by Tren Krom, Takadox triggered a rockfall and escaped with the boat, and Spiriah was absorbed by Miserix on sight when forced into the chamber ahead of the others. Order agent Botar was also killed by Icarax during the first weapons drop.
